“The Conversation” brings to you a series of events and safe spaces where women and girls can go to at any time to feel safer and empowered and have access to information, education, recreational activities, support and services. Today, we talk about The Muslimah Virtual Parlour, a safe space dedicated to hosting conversations for Muslim women.
In today’s world, Muslim women gathering in safe spaces to share their experiences (both good and bad) of being Muslim women is becoming more important. We just want to gather and talk, with a long-term objective, and with solidarity for one another without having our spaces infiltrated by men.
The Covid-19 pandemic has made it almost totally impossible for Muslim women to gather together physically over brunch or tea to have these conversations. Seeing the need to create an alternative solution, Muti’ah Badruddeen, a Saudi-based physician and Author of three books founded The Muslimah Virtual Parlour, an open, honest, relaxed and non-judgemental arena to share our ideas, views and experiences on matters that affect us as Muslim women in today’s world.
We are thrilled at there being any kind of conversation, to begin with — especially one that could not only be had face-to-face but in a Safe Space, that is meant for women only. This Safe Space is sure to free its members to more openly express themselves and help them to find a voice in a world that has often left them underrepresented, outrightly denied their existence, or worse, made attempts to erase them.
There is no limit to the issues that this monthly-event seeks to cover. Hosting conversations for Muslim women never got any better.
